Rainbow Studies courses are for non-native students of English

What are Rainbow Studies?
The program offers intensive English courses, preparatory seminars for excursions, and excursions to discover Maui and the Hawaiian culture. The intensive courses focus on practical English skills such as pronunciation and listening. The excursions include such activities as traditional Hawaiian crafts and music, as well as environmental studies. Students may opt for the intensive English courses (mornings only), excursions (afternoons only) or both.

Who are the Rainbow Studies for?
These courses are designed for ESL/EFL students currently studying on Maui, visiting ESL/EFL students from other Hawaiian or mainland schools, foreign visitors to Maui, and residents who would like to discover more about their home while working on their English communication skills.

Is housing available?
MLI (Maui Language Institute) is not providing housing specifically for this course. However, we can introduce various housing options that are available on the island.

What is the duration of the program?
Rainbow Studies is a two-week course starting July 26th and ending August 6th. Classes run Monday through Friday. Please see the program schedule.

What is the goal of the program?
The goal of Rainbow studies is two-fold: to promote a higher level of English communication skills through intensive practical-skill tuition, and to provide and enjoyable and educational approach to discovering Maui and the Hawaiian culture while also improving English understanding.

What do the students study?
Morning classes focus on practical English communication skills: pronunciation, listening and test-taking. Afternoon seminars are directly related to the excursions and include such topics as Hawaiian crafts, Hawaiian music and dance, marine life, fauna and flora of Hawaii, and local foods.
