Intensive English students study at MLI until they are ready to advance to the University of Hawaii Maui College credit program. They generally stay at MLI for 7 weeks to 18 months. The IEP is an open-enrollment program for Non-F1 students. They may enter the session at any time with the permission of the MLI Director. F1 students are required to enter the program on the first day of the session.
The STP is a custom-designed program for groups of students ranging in age from 12 to senior citizens. The curriculum combines English language learning with seminars and excursions that introduce Maui’s culture, history, and environment. Most STPs are 1-4 weeks in length. Please contact the MLI office for further details.
Students who register for these programs are integrated in the same IEP classrooms. The SAM program attracts groups of students who are granted credit from their home institution for the courses they take at MLI. SAM students generally stay for 1-4 months.
